Quick change rears have a natural whine caused by the spinning of the straight-cut change gears. For street cars and trucks, helical-cut gears will quiet the whine, but they must be installed with shims to reduce stress caused by the rearward thrust of the helical-cut teeth. In this video we explain how to install our shim kit in your quick change rear, and we also explain why helical gears work well for low-stress, street-driven applications but not for banging gears or racing at the track.
